An Introduction to IBET
IBET
has been established to enable Biomedical Engineering
Technologists and
Technicians working in the diverse areas within Health Care in British
Columbia to come
together and exchange ideas and concerns.
IBET is administered by the Association of Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of British
Columbia. (ASTTBC) All professional Biomedical Engineering
Technologists and Technicians registered with the ASTTBC are members of
IBET. Affiliate and corporate memberships in the
Institute are accepted. The Institute is directed by a board elected
from its membership. The Board encourages members to volunteer as
Champions, to undertake special projects, or address areas of special
concern and interest.
IBET provides a forum
for
communication with: other professionals, educators, unions, industry,
healthcare organizations and management associations, governments,
employers and peers with interests in Health Care. Regular communication
is through scheduled monthly meetings open to all parties with interests
in the Health field and by The Monitor, a publication on various topics
of interest to the members, and now through this page. Volunteer members
employed throughout the
Province in Health Care organizations act as Industry Liaison Officers
for IBET, to expedite the exchange of information
within the Institute. Additionally, special purpose meetings, forums
and seminars are organized.
