Dear Colleague: This year, the Institute of Biomedical Engineering Technology (IBET) and the Alberta Clinical Engineering Society (ACES) are happy to announce another jointly sponsored Professional Development Conference. The Western Canada Regional Biomedical Engineering Conference 2001 will be held in Vancouver, BC on September 27th to 29th at the Plaza 500 Hotel. Continuing to build on the success and cooperation of previous conferences held in Kelowna and Calgary, the 2001 conference promises to be a valuable event for all members of the Biomedical Engineering community in Western Canada. The focus of the conference is the application of technology in medicine. Those attending the conference include; Clinical Engineers, Biomedical Engineering Technologists and Technicians. These professionals are responsible for the management and support of Medical Technologies in the Healthcare Industry within Western Canada.. The success of the conference is proven by the record of attracting delegates from a broad area including: BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan and the North West Territories. There will be a trade show in association with the conference, as well as an area in our foyer for non-profit professional associations and educational institutes to staff a table or have a poster display. In our world of fast paced change, it is difficult to keep up with all the advances in technology and practice, which affect our ability to do our jobs well. With this in mind, the boards of IBET and ACES have put together a program that will help you to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing work environment. This year, the program will be divided into three main streams:
We look forward to your participation. Should anybody else be interested in attending this conference, we would be more than pleased to welcome them. Just contact us for further information. Anyone from south of the border could enjoy our hospitality and we would welcome you to share your unique experiences. So please contact us. Sincerely, Alastair MacArthur, AScT & Denny Mellot, CETOn behalf of the Directors of IBET & ACES
